Open any group chat and you will see them: memes and quick jokes. They are funny and fast. Recently a serious question appeared in a teachers' newspaper. If students talk in memes all day, will they slowly lose their own words? The worry is not fun. It is range. A meme can capture a mood in two characters. But a mood is not a thought. When you must explain an idea or comfort a friend, memes cannot carry you. Old sayings survived because a story stood behind them. Fun is fine. Do not let it become your only language.
